Two years ago today.

Two years ago today my younger sister died in a motorcycle crash. Today I am dimming my lights, shutting off part of my brain and crying inside for the loss. I leave you today with this poem.

"Break, Break, Break"
By Alfred, Lord Tennyson.

Break, break, break,
On thy cold gray stones, O Sea!
And I would that my tongue could utter
The thoughts that arise in me.

O well for the fisherman's boy,
That he shouts with his sister at play!
O well for the sailor lad,
That he sings in his boat on the bay!

And the stately ships go on
To their haven under the hill:
But O for the touch of a vanish'd hand,
And the sound of a voice that is still!

Break, break, break,
At the foot of thy crags, O Sea!
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to me.

  2. I was at my aunt's funeral in Long Island yesterday and couldn't help but notice that as her husband of 54 years and her children cried and wailed, her sister sat silently, truly stricken by her grief. I hope that today your sister is able to live in your memory and that the bond you shared gives you some comfort.
