Pablo Neruda on the Far West Side.

On Friday evening I waited on the corner of 46th and 11th Avenue for a car to take me home. I noticed on the side of the truck parked on the corner, a small page of graffiti had been pasted on its panels. You can see it there in the top photograph, above the waves of the sea, to the right of the smiling person-hammer and to the left of the word OPEN.

The poem was "Parthogenesis" by Nobel Prize-winner Pablo Neruda.

There's no telling what you can find in New York if you're not really looking and what you can find if you are.

I considered myself lucky for seeing this.

It made a rough week better somehow.
