It's crept up on me, this new word. But all at once it seems like it's being used in every meeting I'm forced to sit in.
"What is the narrative of our meeting."
Or
"The narrative of this ad is..."
It took me a while to figure out what narrative means.
Bullshit.

But a narrative is a story. So saying the narrative of an ad, in TV terms, is the 'story' that happens in it. I don't know if it can really happen in other media... In your meetings I guess its just people trying to sound clever - and presumably failing.
If narrative means story--and I agree, it does--say story.
It is clearer and more succinct.
