I don't like popular culture, I'll admit.
For my dime all art comes from censorship and subtlety and both of those elements are missing in modern expression.
As Keats said in "Ode on a Grecian Urn," "Heard melodies are sweet, but those unheard/ Are sweeter..."
I think about the rape scene in "Gone With the Wind." Do you remember it? Of course you don't. It consisted of Rhett carrying Scarlett up the stairs and Scarlett deshabille the next morning.
In other words leave something to the imagination.
I don't need to see blood and gore and rape.
It doesn't make things clearer or more gruesome.

I haven't seen much that tops it.
No matter how much blood is splattered.
