Today, I leave Facebook.
I encourage you to do the same.
It's fun, Facebook.
It's like sitting with a big group of friends in your college cafeteria.
But part of me is blaming last night's disaster on Facebook.
Why?
Because we talk only to our friends.
We talk to them in a echo-chamber. A place where we hear only opinions that replicate our own.
Diverse points of view, expressions of pain, disagreement, we avoid them.
Facebook is either a symbol of or his adding to the polarization of who we are as a people.
Of course, on Facebook, last night no one could believe what was happening.
Because we could see only mirror images of ourselves.
And, worse, we are the cool kids.
All the other kids in the cafeteria feel mocked, stupid, out of it.
Last night was their revenge.
And we never saw it coming.
We were too busy laughing with our friends.
